Registration Details
How do I register online?
At 9:00 am on the day of registration, a link will appear "click here" to register. A PDF will also appear, if you wish to complete and fax or email it to us. As registration is in high demand, we strongly suggest registering online to increase your chance of a successful registration. A confirmation page and number will appear after each registration, if you wish, you may print the confirmation page or record the confirmation number for documentation purposes. A detailed information package will be mailed to your address one month prior to the camp date. This information package will include: packing list, map and directions, drop off and pick up times as well as information on what to expect.
Do I need an OFAH membership to register my child in the Summer Leadership Camp?
Yes, you can do this online at www.ofah.org/join or call (705) 748-6324 and ask for the membership department.
Can I call in to register?
At 9:00 am on the day of registration we will accept registration via phone. No registrations will be accepted through voicemail, only through direct contact with the Get Outdoors Program Coordinator. Due to the high volume of phone calls received, this is the slowest method of registration. If you must leave a message, please clearly state your name and phone number, as well as the number of participants that you wish to register, and we will return your call in order of a first come, first serve basis.
Camp Details
Is this camp registered?
The OFAH Get Outdoors Summer Leadership Camp is a registered Recreational Camp under the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit. All requirements of the Health Protection and Promotion Act R.R.O. 1990, Regulation 568, Recreational Camps are met and inspected prior to opening.
Is this an overnight camp, and if so, what are the accommodations?
Yes, your child will spend four days and three nights at camp and sleep in gender-separate cabins. Campers also have gender-separate washroom facilities. Please take a look at the camp photos to see the images of the camp and its features.
Where is the camp?
The camp is located 30 minutes northwest of Huntsville, Ontario, and is situated on the north end of Fox Lake on privately owned property. A detailed map and directions will be mailed to your address one month prior to the camp date
What does my child need to bring?
The OFAH Get Outdoors Program will provide all program equipment needed. A list of specific items that your child will need to bring will be included in an information package mailed to your address one month prior to the camp date. These items would include personal belongings, such as clothing, bug spray, sunscreen, sleeping bag, pillow, etc.
Can my child bring snacks?
Your child will be provided with all meals and snacks that they require. Healthy snacks are always made available to campers. We prefer that no campers bring any snacks to camp due to critical allergies.
How many staff are present at the camp?
For every five campers, there will be at minimum one staff on site. With 60 campers you can expect at minimum 12 staff and volunteers at all times. During field trips a ratio of one staff or volunteer to five campers will also apply.
Do staff/volunteers sleep in the cabin with the campers?
No, staff responsible for each cabin will sleep in tents directly outside the cabin, close by to monitor behaviour, and be available for emergency purposes. We strongly believe the children deserve privacy in their sleeping quarters.
Can my child request to be in the same group as a friend or family member?
Upon registration, any requests can be added. Groups are usually based on the ages of each child. All efforts will be made to meet your requests, though the number of youth in each age range vary, requests might not be possible. These groups will be a mixture of boys and girls of similar age group.
Can my child request to be in the same cabin as a friend or family member?
Cabin assignments are made after all participants have had the opportunity to meet each other, and find common interests with their peers. Campers are encouraged to provide input on cabin assignments, and all efforts will be made to meet requests. All cabins will only contain one gender.
Does my child need money?
Your child should have no need for money; all equipment is provided. It is highly suggested that all valuables and electronics be left at home. We are not responsible for misplaced items.
